Ahoy me hearties! The Festival of Busselton are hosting their Pirate Competition at 9am on Sunday 14th January, where pirates aged 12 years and under are invited to take over the STS Leeuwin II which will be moored at the Jetty. The best pirate outfits will be judged by the ship’s captain, with prizes for the best three outfits in three age categories up to and including 12 years of age.
The Leeuwin will be moored more than a kilometre out from shore along the Jetty, so start walking early to arrive on board the Leeuwin by the judging time of 9am (Jetty entry fees will apply for persons older than 16 years).
The tall ship will then be open for guided tours from 10am to 2pm for a gold coin donation.
On Saturday 13th January, come down to the Jetty to watch the STS Leeuwin II come in around midday (times may change due to weather conditions). Western Australia’s very own tall ship will dock after completing a week-long Youth Explorer Voyage. This voyage will have 40 participants, 10 volunteers and 5 crew arriving into Busselton after sailing from Fremantle. The Leeuwin Foundation is a not-for-profit that is funded through a combination of grants, corporate sponsorships and donations by organisations and the general public.
