In the spirit of the original fundraising efforts to Save the Jetty, a Walkathon will be held to recognise the amazing efforts of John Bussell. In 1979 John walked the length of the Jetty up and back 151 times, covering 580km in 14 days to raise money to repair the Jetty and to raise awareness that it was still OK after the cyclone. Stamps will be issued at the Underwater Observatory and the Jetty Shop for each one way leg completed by the participant. Sponsors are asked to commit to sponsorship of each 1.841km completed – all proceeds will go to Light the Night for Leukemia research.
