The Busselton Jetty Museum is very proud to have been awarded for heritage excellence at the 2018 Western Australian Heritage Awards.
The Museum, which was revamped in 2017, was announced as the joint winner of the Interpretation Project category, sharing the honour with Broome’s Jetty to Jetty Walk.
The new interactive and immersive Museum experience offers:
• Interactive historical timelines on wall touch screens.
• Touch table showing visual changes to the Jetty’s structure.
• Marine species wall touch screen.
The Museum upgrade was made possible thanks to funding from Lotterywest and the South West Development Commission. The local community showed passion for the project by contributing stories, news clippings and images. Schools in the region participated in a competition for the ‘Best Jetty Story’ – the winner was the CEO of the Jetty for a day.
The Heritage Awards acknowledge contributions to heritage conservation, promotion and tourism.
The Jetty Museum is open daily from 8.30am to 6pm and is free for visitors to explore.
