People Power Historian Project
Busselton Jetty Inc is working with local historian Judith Murray to put together a book that chronicles the people power stories of those that saved the Jetty after it closed as a Port in 1972.
What is People Power?
Judith Murray is working to bring the Busselton Jetty’s past to life in an entertaining but educational novel, with stories told through the eyes of the key people who saved the Jetty.
- Project objective – to put together in narrative prose the life stories of people involved in the preservation and restoration of the Busselton Jetty by conveying the community spirit and passion that led to its complete renovation in 2011 to become the steadfast heritage and tourism icon that it is today
- Project scope – research and interviews with a list of key people provided by Busselton Jetty Inc and/or referred to by people on the list to piece together stories and timelines included to but not limited to the role of people, the processes, infrastructure, governance, funding and lobbying that occurred, the trials and tribulations, the controversy and the collaboration.
If you have a story to tell, please outline a brief summary of your story or your family’s story below, including key dates, activities, community groups etc so we can contact you.
Busselton Jetty Inc will forward all story ideas to Judith Murray. Judith will look into story ideas, gaps and the formatting of the book and contact those people whose stories are able to fit into the timeline and story angles being developed. If you are not contacted, we thank you for your information as this will still be maintained on file by Busselton Jetty Inc for future projects and/or inclusion in our Jetty Museum story timeline.
