Busselton Jetty has been eco-certified with Ecotourism Australia for 10 years, making us a Green Leader in 2020. We have recently been audited as an Advanced Ecotourism Operator and were awarded Gold in the Ecotourism Category at the 2019 WA Tourism Awards.
What does this mean?
This certification means that we are dedicated to the conservation of our surrounding environment as well as implementing sustainable practices into our everyday business. As a tour attraction, being eco-certified also recognises the level of support and contribution made to our local community. And it acknowledges our efforts to increase knowledge, awareness and understanding of our amazing environment with our visitors
Ecotourism Australia is also a non-profit organization, formed in 1991 describe ecotourism as “ecologically sustainable tourism with a primary focus on experiencing natural areas that fosters environmental and cultural understanding, appreciation and conservation”.
Ecotourism Australia’s Vision is to:
“To be leaders in assisting ecotourism and other committed tourism operations to become environmentally sustainable, economically viable, and socially and culturally responsible”
