Busselton Jetty has been eco-certified with Ecotourism Australia since 2003, achieving Green Leader in 2020. Our work to be environmentally, socially and economically sustainable has led us to being accredited both as an Advanced Ecotourism Operator and Climate Action Certified business.
Busselton Jetty Inc was awarded Gold in the Ecotourism Category at the 2019 WA Tourism Awards, Winner of the WA State Coastcare Award and National finalist of the same in 2021/22, and finalist in the Banksia Awards Sustainable Tourism category in 2022.
What does this mean?
This certification means that we are dedicated to the conservation of our surrounding environment as well as implementing sustainable practices into our everyday business.
As a major attraction, being eco-certified also recognises the community support and contributions made to our local economy.
Our certifications acknowledge our efforts to increase knowledge, awareness and understanding of our amazing environment with our visitors.
Ecotourism Australia is also a non-profit organization, formed in 1991 describe ecotourism as “ecologically sustainable tourism with a primary focus on experiencing natural areas that fosters environmental and cultural understanding, appreciation and conservation”.
