Frequently Asked Questions

General

  • Busselton Jetty is open 24/7, we only charge $4 entry for a Day Pass during our open hours.
  • No. All parking on the Busselton Foreshore is free!
  • The Jetty is 1.841km long so anywhere from 20 – 30 minutes one-way depending on your walking speed.
  • The Jetty is a state-owned asset and as such the City of Busselton sets the entry fee, that being the $4 Day Pass.
  • Proceeds from Day Passes go towards the repairs and maintenance of the Jetty so that future generations can enjoy!
  • Seniors who present an Australian Seniors Card receive a 10% discount (applies to the full Underwater Observatory Tour only)
  • No we do not offer any student discounts or concessions.
  • Yes, we accept Companion Cards and the Companion Card Carer goes free-of-charge.
  • No. Scooters, bikes & skateboards are not allowed on the Jetty and this is detailed on signage before you enter.
  • No. Dogs and other animals are not allowed on the Jetty, Jetty Train or in the Underwater Observatory.
  • Exceptions are made for guide or support dogs and animals that also have the relevant accreditation and authorisation card.
  • Drones are permitted to be flown over the Jetty.
  • Recreational operators should only fly during the day and respect the personal privacy of others.
  • Do not video or photograph people without their consent and ensure you remain 30 metres away.
  • The drone operator must also adhere to all national rules and regulations around drone use.

Tours & Train Rides

Train Rides & Underwater Observatory Tours depart the shore on the hour, every hour.

  • In Summer, Train Rides run from 9:00am – 5:00pm and Underwater Observatory Tours run from 9:00am – 4:00pm.
  • In Winter, Train Rides run from 10:00am – 4:00pm and Underwater Observatory Tours run from 10:00am – 3:00pm.
  • We would highly advise that you pre-book your Train Ride or Underwater Observatory Tour as we have a set capacity.
  • Summer is an extremely busy time for us here at the Jetty and to avoid disappointment you can book in advance online via the book now button above or phone us on (08) 9754 0900!
  • No, those tickets are sold separately.
  • The Walk Ticket / Day Pass gives you access to walk the Jetty for that day.
  • Yes, the Jetty Train departs the end of the Jetty at half-past the hour, every hour. 
  • You can purchase a one-way Train Ride from the Underwater Observatory for $11 per Adult and $7 per Child based on availability.
  • Technically yes, there is just a 45-minute wait until the next Mini Tour begins as the Jetty Train arrives at the Underwater Observatory 15-minutes past the hour and the Mini Tours begin 5-minutes past the hour.
  • If you would like to do a Mini Tour and also catch the Jetty Train, we would advise you walk to the end of the Jetty for the Mini Tour and then purchase a one-way Train Ride back to shore as the Mini Tour finishes at 20-minutes past the hour, 10 minutes before the Train departs.
  • No you don’t as we offer 2 different Tours of the Underwater Observatory.
  • The first option is our main 45-minute guided Tour that includes a Return Train Ride.
  • The second option is our 15-minute Mini Tour that requires visitors to walk to the end of the Jetty and back again.
  • Mini Tours can only be purchased in-person at the Interpretive Centre / Bookings Office.
  • No, prams and strollers are not allowed on the Train for safety and evacuation reasons.
  • We can offer you a bike lock at the Interpretive Centre to use for the duration of your Train Ride or Tour.
  • No. Dogs and other animals are not allowed on the Jetty, Jetty Train or in the Underwater Observatory.
  • Exceptions are made for guide or support dogs and animals that also have the relevant accreditation and authorisation card.

Diving & Snorkelling

  • The Underwater Sculptures are located at the very end of the Busselton Jetty roughly 1.7km – 1.8km out to sea and can be viewed by snorkeling, swimming or diving them. On a clear day 7 of the 13 sculptures are visible from up on the Jetty decking.
  • Entry to the ocean is via the Universal Access Platform that is just south of the Observatory gates on the west side of the Jetty, down the ramp.
  • Swimmers, Snorkelers and Divers can purchase a $4 Dive / Snorkel Day Pass from the Interpretive Centre / Bookings Office and are also required to complete our Dive / Snorkel Waiver.
  • This $4 Dive Pass and accompanying Waiver can be pre-purchased and completed online before arrival on our website.
  • We have trolleys available to hire in the Interpretive Centre for anyone looking to transport Dive Gear to the end of the Jetty. If you are wet or carrying dive gear, you are not permitted on the Jetty Train.

  • The Jetty is surrounded by the open ocean and there is several risks associated with entering the ocean such as dangerous marine life, ocean/weather conditions and even boat or jetski activity.
  • By signing the Dive / Snorkel Waiver you acknowledge and accept the risks involved with undertaking the activity.
  • Yes, the Jetty Train departs the end of the Jetty at half-past the hour, every hour. 
  • You can purchase a one-way Train Ride from the Underwater Observatory for $11 per Adult and $7 per Child based on availability.
  • No, dive gear is not allowed on the Train for safety and evacuation reasons.
  • We can hire you a Trolley from the Interpretive Centre to help transport your dive gear to the end of the Jetty.
