Multiple options are available below to suit a variety of learning areas, budgets and year groups.

Marine Science Excursion

The Busselton Jetty is home to 1 of only 6 underwater observatories in the world!

Our experienced guides lead you and your students through the natural wonders that lie beneath the Jetty where its piles create Australia’s greatest artificial reef, host to an awe inspiring “forest” of vividly-coloured tropical and sub-tropical corals, sponges, fish and invertebrates.

Descend 8 metres beneath the water’s surface to learn about the habitat zones and adaptations of the marine life that live beneath the Jetty!

  • 1 Hour & 45 Minute experience (Includes train ride to and from the Observatory)
  • 30 – 44 people per tour dependent on season
  • Schools receive a 10% discount and one free teacher per class

Ride The Jetty Train

Take your students on a fun and exciting 3.6 kilometre Return Train journey across the beautiful waters of Geographe Bay!

See what local wildlife you can spot and listen to our Train audio outlining the Jetty’s colourful history since opening in 1865.

Spend 10-15 minutes at the end of the Jetty exploring the life size whale murals and direction dial before your return trip. 

  • 45-minute experience 
  • 46 – 60 people per tour dependent on season
  • School’s receive a 10% discount and one free teacher per class

Virtual Excursion

Marine science and conservation live-streamed directly to your classroom anywhere in the world!

Begin with a guided tour and question period live-streamed from the Underwater Observatory. Afterwards, use the provided Teacher Resource Guide to select curriculum-linked activities and resources to explore more marine topics with your classroom. 

  • Choice of 2 themes – Reef Biodiversity and Human Impact
  • 30 minute interactive livestream delivered via Teams or Zoom
  • 15 minute follow up video call to your classroom
  • PDF Teacher Resource Guide
  • $170 per class, can accommodate multiple classes per session

Wonderful Whales Excursion

Featuring our well-loved Underwater Observatory Tour and Train Ride, plus additional whale content and the chance to spot whales from the end of the Jetty during their migration through Geographe Bay!

Come and experience our Wonderful Whales Excursion program and learn about the largest animals in the ocean!! 

  • 1 Hour & 45 Minute experience

  • Includes Return Train Ride and Student Worksheets for the trip

History & Heritage Walk

Walk along the 1.841km long, heritage listed Busselton Jetty that was built in 1865!

There is a Bollard Trail quiz you can request from Staff when you arrive and it is also available to download below.

The Bollard Trail quiz has 15 questions based around the Jetty’s history and heritage with all 15 answers being found along the walk with addition of interpretive panels, memorial plaques, wind vanes, life size whale murals, a direction dial at the very end and 360 degree views of the beautiful Geographe Bay!

  • No booking required
  • Students (3-17 years) are free of charge
  • One teacher free of charge
  • All additional adults $4 pp
